We've got two central AC units--one is a five-ton unit, and the other is a three-ton unit. The first cools the entire downstairs of the house, minus the master suite. The second cools the master suite and the entire upstairs. Plenty of AC for this house.

Sorry, I should have included a quote of EZ-Es post I reckon.

Its border line...its a 3 ton that the builder put in 20 yrs ago, I could use a 4 ton. I got a quote a couple weeks ago for $7500 for a Carrier 4 ton 16 seer.
Was that for a complete system, installed?

Seems like a very good price.

About ten years ago, we replaced every window in the house with double-pane gas-filled windows, replaced the siding with Hardie-plank over some some sort of wrap, and a new roof with much-improved attic ventilation. Our summer electric bills dropped by on-third, and even more once we chucked the electric dryer.

My house is at 70. I’m outside most of the day and I don’t want to walk in to a warm house.

When it’s cold I move it to 74 because I DO want a warm house.

Man.....all you guys setting at 68 and 70 must be hot blooded. With a ceiling fan and 77.....sometimes I get chilled.

I have a remote control pedestal fan with 5 speeds sitting beside my recliner.
I'm adjusting speeds constantly with the AC bumped up to 74 to stay cool.

75 for A/C and 70 for heat. The wife would like it colder though I get cold sitting around watching TV at 75. But I also drive everywhere with the convertible top down once it drops to 90. Years ago we kept it at 78 and 68 when we had a very large house, inefficient heat pumps and the expense of 3 kids.
