And they are wanting us to drive electric vehicles since they have "zero" emissions??? The ONLY way an electric vehicle has zero emissions, is if you're getting 100% of your power from solar or wind power. Unlikely to happen, and there's still a lot of coal powered plants out there. If even 25% of us were to drive electric vehicles it would bring the grid to it's knees.

Yeah thermostat settings are all relative to our individual homes. So many variables. Ours generally stays 75 in the summer. Winter seems to average around 68/70

My 80 yr old mother keeps hers on 80. My visits are short in the Summer. Lord it’s too stuffy in that house but that’s where she likes it. Must be an age related thing. She used to not be that cold natured.

Naw, I’m gonna run my AC where I’m comfortable. We get the same advisories to conserve. Yep, what ever.

I get your point but that's technically not possible because fossil fuels will have been used during mining of raw materials, mfg. of the equipment, and delivery & installation of renewable source electricity generation facilities.

ETA: But the greenies don't want the BIG picture, only glittering generalities.

Damn, just got out electric bill and paid $0.076/kw, or within a cent of that. They had it out to the 4th decimal and I just glanced at it.

We also got a credit on the bill because co-ops are great. Run a central unit plus another 220v wall unit in the back room for about $250 last month.

    It’s robbery.

Just within the last year or two, they’ve moved peak rates to include 6-9pm...when folks get home from work.

6-9p used to be off-peak when I left the state.

In the winter - we use no heating.

    Wife complains.

I suggest: Bundle up - Artificial heating isn't good for health.

    At this point she does...

    Electric bill...nil...in the winter.

I always laugh when someone from CA talks about how much more money they make/made there.

    Yeah it’s gone full retard.

It’s not what you make it’s what you keep...and the state leaves you with very little to keep.

Our state income tax rate was over 12%

Funny how that time frame coincides with people getting home, and turning down their thermostat to get the house cool after having it raised while gone.

Ours would have been a little over $300 without the credit, but the back room is my room and when I decide I want to tinker I don’t want to wait for the AC to catch up and make it bearable again.

I just recently bumped my AC up to 74, 24/7, last month bill was $330.

Winter is set at 68, gas heat, and bill comparable to yours.

On Pedernales Electric, house is about 1680 sq ft., all electric. Heat pump for house and 8k window unit in the shed that runs 8 hours a day. August bill was $170. My highest electric bills are usually January-February when they get up to around $215-$225.
