No one has tried to take husband’s MAGA hat off him yet. He says let them try to take it off someone his size.

He’s gotten several compliments (and more than a few dirty looks, he says).

He doesn’t wear it when we go out to eat though. Don’t want to push our luck.

When I was a kid, I always thought Nazis were the Opposite of commies. Hitler said that Communists & Nazis could never co-exist together as they were diametrically opposed! Now, I'M confused! Think too much is being placed on the "Socialist" part of Nazi. It's just a word, and they damn sure weren't "SOCIAL" about anything!
Exactly which socialist country followed socialism to the letter? For socialism to really work would mean an Utopian society in which everyone shares equally, in work as well as sustenance and shelter, which would include leaders. The problem is that not all people have ambitions to work and share equally, leaders especially. Socialism means a classless society, yet no matter how much leaders preach the virtues of socialism, they are always a class above those they preach to.

Nazi Germany was preaching socialism, yet those in power didn't live a socialist life, neither did Lenin, Stalin, Castro and so on. The difference between Nazi Germany and Stalin's Russia was that Nazi's were nationalist purists (racists), not to say Communist Russia was not, just to a bit lesser degree.

Russia and NAZI germany weren't all that different. Stalin killed more people for various reasons.

The reasons they didn't get along had nothing to do with their socialism vs communism. They tried to play each other and Germany needed Russian oil. Lots of stuff went down between WW1 abd WW2 between the two countries.

Hitler rode the socialist train to power. Made things look pretty good for a while with low unemployment and the appearance of a strong economy. Then did what all socialists do when things start going bad. He blamed one group after another for the failures.

    Just like Stalin.

We don't remember Stalin in as bad a light (generally) because we wouldn't be able to justify having such a monsteous regime as an ally. They evenbwentbasbfar as to either shoot or send to the gulag any Russian soldiers who managed to survive the german POW camps assuming they must have worked with the germans in order to get favorable treatment.

Must be from different generations. The history I studied in school made no pretense about Stalin's slaughters. But then I am old.

When I was in school, around 2000, Stalin was mostly skipped over aside from being an ally in WW2 with the bulk of the talk being about the deaths caused by the Germans and no real mention that the NAZI party was a socialist party. Material was mostly indifferent to Russia aside from how they stood against the German invasion. No mention of gulags, mass executions, or mass starvation.

It's called selective education and the liberals get to select.

Because we (current and past) parents don't get involved. The vast majority don't look over the kids' textbooks to see what is being taught. Much less then go to the school board or state to try and get changes made.

I remember back in the mid to late sixties the Vietnam war protests, and the TV announcers reporting on groups showing up to protest the war protestors: "The war protestors were met by KKK members, Nazis, and other FAR RIGHT groups." (Emphasis mine). But now Nazis are LEFT wing? Hahahahahaha, I don't think so!

I agree. I've decided to be a rebel and actually have conversations with my kids about what they've been taught.

I don't give a rats ass what Dinesh says about it! I'm telling you that when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's, Nazis were considered a far right group!
