The routes are planned well in advance and scouted. Also permitted with TXDOT if I recall properly. Pretty sure the driver is briefed as well as the escort cars.

City Market does have the best bbq ribs.

Not looking for a Frankin's BBQ type experience. How early is early? I ain't standing out in the 100+ degree sun for a couple hours.
Nothing like that. I don't remember ever waiting in line for more than about 15 minutes. At one time, they quit taking orders at 5:00 p.m. and kicked everyone out by 6:00 p.m. Not sure if that has changed.

At least the wreck wasn't costly. According to my Bing search for "wind turbine blade cost", these things only run about $100k to $300k, depending on capacity size.
About $250k-$300k for current model turbine blades.

On the other hand, they can sell fiberglass toothpicks and make up some of the loss.

I saw something similar to this about 15 years ago in Schulenburg TX. A brand new 45' box trailer, first time hauling, that had just been fully loaded to the top with molasses lick blocks for cattle, got hung up behind an elderly lady in a car where the trailer was across the rail road crossing. A train T-Boned the trailer sending 270 of the 24" square molasses lick blocks into the air. Some were found three blocks away. Believe it or not none of those blocks did any damage to houses or cars in that area. The trailer however was wrapped around the front of the engine of that train so tightly that it had to be cut away with torches, so the occupants could get out.

The running theory is that the route was planned for the pilot vehicle to completely block oncoming traffic so the truck could begin the turn from the far left lane. I'm not sure whose fault that would be. I'm sure at least some will go on the driver though.

And they probably didn't send him up 80 because of low power lines. But I think that would have been up to the state.
