Well, we did see it coming though. I'm disappointed we won't be here in TX so I can vote. I expect you boys will be holding down the fort though.

What does it matter? The Dems have made themselves the new Socialist party and private ownership of firearms is not compatible with socialism. We need to focus on getting someone decent on the other side of the ticket.

She hasn't a prayer of winning. The Dem's already know Abbott is a shoe in. This is a publicity stunt. She will NEVER get a whiff of the Gov's Mansion.

Don't let the media fool you. Wendy Davis is NOT popular among most Texas residents and the legislation she supported was NOT popular with Texans or even Texan women. It polled poorly but it fit well with the media narrative so they tried to make her a hero.

She is very popular in Austin. Austin is not Texas.

I know quite a few people on the other side of the fence and they are jumping for joy that she is running. Some of them are even doing voter registration drives trying to get more voters register. Most of them are running around the same way they were for Obastard in 2012. Dont underestimate her or her supporters. Make sure you get out and vote and get others like us to the polls too.

Really? I've seen her pretty popular on social media. But that is a pretty limited view. I hope you're right.

Do not get complacent, and do not underestimate this woman. Millions upon millions of out of state Democratic dollars will flow to her campaign. She will be far better funded than any recent Texas Dem with the possible exception of Tony Sanchez, by orders of magnitude, and will get the benefit of hours upon hours of favorable media coverage. Plus, she looks very good on TV, and if you think that doesn't count for a lot you haven't been paying attention.

If Texas ever turns blue, it is over as far as presidential politics; the Dem's will own it for the rest of our lifetimes at least. The presidency is only even marginally competitive now because Texas is red - if Texas turns they (Dems) would barely have to lift a finger to get the requisite electoral votes. They know this, and they desperately want Texas to turn blue, and they think Abortion Barbie and the Castro brothers can at least get the ball rolling in their direction.

We need to support Greg Abbot with everything we've got. He's not perfect - nobody is - but he's infinitely better than Davis on virtually if not every issue, most notably the 2nd amendment, and he's a damned good guy. We don't just need him to win, we need him to blow her out. We need to send a message to the rest of the country that Texas is and will remain TEXAS.

She is a great choice as she hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of winning. She is a liberal's wet dream which never plays well in Texas. Even if she managed to win, the Governor is an almost powerless position in Texas. I'd be much more afraid of her winning Lt. Governor.

Well said. While I believe Davis will have an uphill battle no matter what, I will be sure to show up and vote against her.

I just hope the Republicans don't pull a 2012 on us again and pull another obstinate "I'm not voting because the person running isn't perfect" attitude.

She wont get my vote either. It does bug me that some republicans don't show up to vote if they don't like the candidate. Sometime you have to pick the lesser of two evils. And not voting may give the election to the other party. Just my 02 cents

If they want the base to support them and go out and vote they need to put up a candidate that the base can rally behind. A perfect example of this is John Cornyn. Ill try and support a true conservative that goes up against him but if that doesnt work out I wont vote for Cornyn. If Cornyn the next election cycle gets to stay on the Republican ticket I will not vote against him to get a Democrat elected but I would not vote for him either.

The Republicans keep tossing out these candidates that are middle of the road guys. The intent they have is they assume that well since he/she is not a Democrat that all the right wingers will vote for him/her. And since he/she isnt super left wing (like most democrat candidates have been lately) the independent people will vote for our more middle of the road candidate. This has been the strategy time and time again and the right wing conservative republicans are fighting back by not voting. I know it seems logical to pick someone more middle of the road but we have seen this stradegy doesnt work. McCain and Romney should be enough proof that it is time the Republicans stop picking someone that will be a "hes an OK choice I guess" and start going with someone that is as going to rally true conservatives. We need to have someone that is as right wing conservative as far as the democrats are left wing. Trying to play the middle ground is a strategy that will keep failing.
