I load 45-70 and 50-70 for a couple of trap doors and rolling blocks. I try to match the lead alloy to Lyman #2 for both. I see your using wheel weight, real black powder, and the same lube I use. May I ask how they perform in the Springfield?Loading for my trapdoor Springfield.

Those look like 6mm to me.30BR or 30 Major?

It is a 6mm BR- Ackley. Basically a 6mm br but the shoulder is 40° versus the standard 30°. Some say it is more inherently accurate but I'm not certain about that. I do know that it feeds out of aics pattern magazines much better than the standard br does. What's the one on the left?
THANKSRick,
I have a couple...an 1885 highwall, a Perdersoli trap door and a 1887 trapdoor.
The bullets are .459 un-sized, as the repro guns run a .458 barrel. Going to try them first in the 1885 and see how they shoot. Then the new trapdoor, then on to the old man...I haven't slugged the bore on the old rifle yet. If they shoot too loose, I'll slug it and see if that's an issue. I have 2 bullet molds that drop them out at .460, I'll just have to see what groups best.
I'll post as soon as I shoot some.

THANKS
My 45-70 rolling block is a Danish 1871 it slugs at 458 the trap door is a 1873 it slugs at 457 so I size to 458 and use the soft alloy. The other rolling block is 50-70. Springfield It slugs at 513. my Lee mold drops them just right to use as is.It likes the sort alloy. I use 2F BP in all, with the 60/40 lube.
I really like the Little Crow Gunworks trimmers they call the World's Finest Trimmer. I have one for each of the rifle calibers I shoot. High quality, sharp, easy to adjust and use, and very quick. They are all I use anymore. Just bought one for my 6.5 PRC and made short work of 100 cases.Ordered some bullets, Barnes 145 grain Match burners, for my 6.5 creedmoor, and the Hornady lock and load neck turning tool, from Midway. Never worried about trimming my brass before, but it’s about to be on its 3rd go round through the reloading process, and I’m trying to get more consistent with my brass prep. Next purchase is gonna be a better way to trim it. I’ve got the Lee quick trim dies and drill attachment, but even when the cutting attachment is adjusted to its max length, it seems to trim the brass shorter than I’d like. And I also have the Lee case length gauges, and cutting attachment that I can use on my Lyman prep station. But they don’t allow any adjustment.
