My new neighbor is a contractor from Washington. He’s pretty conservative…the stories he tells of what he had to deal with in Washington are insane.

For those who want to assimilate into Texas culture, it begins when your answer to “where do you live?” isn’t “well, I originally lived in CA but then I moved to Plano 3 years ago…”

Thread drift and derailment are real things. Many years ago, when I first started using the internet and forums, many were much more technical in nature. They not only discouraged if not out right prohibited off subject posts and replies. The subject matter of the thread was the only thing allowed to be discussed.

@Sasquatch is probably the only other member to see how terrifying Washington drivers are.

@easy rider is familiar with the shit-show that is Washington too. Fuckin native and naturalized Texan drivers like to drive aggressively sometimes, but we're talking about just using speed limit signs and turn signals as gentle suggestions.

Washington drivers are a whole new level of retard.

    Picture this...

Its 2014. You're in down town Seattle (yes, you are carrying your full size pistol concealed despite not having a nanny-card for that state, because its fucking Seattle) in the center lane of a 5-lane wide one-way street, waiting for the light to change in your favor.

A silver Toyota Prius in the far left lane decides that instead of going up to the next block and making three left turns to get going on the street they want to be in, they make a right hand turn across four other lanes of traffic - somehow NOT getting T-boned or killing the pedestrians in the crosswalk in the process.

You look to your left, still astonished by the utter stupidity and audacity of the idiot in the Prius, and you see a black & white fully marked King County Sheriffs Office patrol vehicle, sitting in the lead spot, in the same lane as the idiot just turned into. You think "Oh boy, here some the red & blues" and you hold back a second waiting for the cop to do his job and go have a chat with the retard.

But he doesn't. You motor thru the intersection and witness half a dozen other acts of pure retardation before reaching your destination - an auto shop in a neighborhood that could use a good carpet bombing by the boys over at Joint Base Lewis-McCord. You drop off the vehicle you've transported and begin the journey back south.

Along the way you will be cut off half a dozen more times, have some yutz with a man bun driving a Saturn almost merge into your 35' long Fire Engine Red Navistar 4300 extra cab truck with reflective logos all over the damn thing because he didn't see it, then get flipped the bird when you give "him" a toot from the air horn to alert him of his impending death.

When you finally get back to the relative safety of the open highway south of Tacoma, you ponder life, and wonder why in God's name you agreed to take this job.

You cross the Columbia River and are somehow heartened to the typical stupidity of Portlanders, which are just more likely to spurt-drive, than to go full retard and cross four lanes of traffic. The gentle aroma of homeless man piss and skunky weed as you pass by Delta Park tells you that yes, you're almost home.

Making it thru the heart of Havanna on the Willamette, you pass thru the Vista Ridge Tunnel and are soon back safe & sound in the suburbs where Californian and Indian (dot, not casino) transplants are the worst of your traffic obstacles. You didn't get raped, shanked, shot, or contract VD from a gas station toilet.

I agree with the OP, I have found the discussions here a lot more fun and the mods a lot more reasonable than some of the other forums. I have also found the ribbing on "dumb questions" to be much more good natured with the aim to actually educate than an least one other major gun forum that will go unnamed ;)

Sorry I laughed. The idea of thinking of Portland as some kind of safe space is hilarious!

Need to be around on Friday and Saturday nights, when some of us get liquored up. It gets downright sporty around here!

One of the reasons I love TGT, are the awesome members here. More than a few times I have reached out to several members here to learn about things they had much greater knowledge and understanding of things I was having difficulties in, and they have freely gave their time and experience in helping me out. I have made some life-long friends from TGT as well. Some are just friends I haven't met in person yet.
