Maybe Virginia is a sign there may still be some hope left.

While this happening in Virginia is a good sign, I'm cautiously optimistic with other states doing the same.

Think about it- before yesterday, Virginia for all intents and purposes, was a blue state; Governor, Lt Governor, Attorney General, and the House all dominated by Democrats. Overnight that all flipped to red. I can't really recall another state election like this, such a huge turnaround in balance of power.

Make no mistake, I do think it's a very good thing. I'd like the same to happen in many other states as well.

But, I'll remain cautiously optimistic for the time being.

We need more following this trend.

NJ is really close, like 16k votes close, but the bulk of the remaining to be counted are being reported as 'make as many as we need' votes. I mean mail in votes.

Yeah, Ciattarelli is done now that is down to mail in votes.

AP already called it for Murphy even though NJ SecState does not even know how many mail-in ballots are left to be counted. What does that tell you...

It was a Dem stronghold till 96, when it flipped to Repubs. It tends to move around, since Gov is limited to a single term at a time. It went back to full Dem in 2020, and even today, they did not win back the Senate AFAIK.

I will take a won battle over a lost battle.

Changing occupants in the Mansion is not a win. That happens a lot in Va due to no consecutive terms. Veto-proof majorities in legislature is how battles are won.

No Senators were up for election, thus there will be no winning until that happens. Dems rammed a lot of bad legislation through in last few years, Just repealing that will be a monumental effort. Then maybe they can make progress and start winning.

But yeah, this is a step in the right direction, but there is still a mountain to climb.

    Who's with me?
If they count more mail-in ballots than they sent out, we get the rope.

Also: any county getting more votes than registered voters is disqualified.

History is consistent on this front - most mail-ins fall to democrats. So calling the race for Murphy based on that history is a pretty safe bet. Now why those votes are consistently for Democrat candidates, nation wide, well that's a whole other conversation.
