I was asking about an alleged law.

To clarify, since I didn't initially understand your request for citation:

The laws (NY SAFE Act being one of them) cast a VERY broad net. They simply say something like "no taking of XYZ meds" or you get classified as mentally ill. Also, CT added something like that to their laws (I don't know thename of that law off hand).

Thanks, I was wondering if you could point to the law or a snippet?

Yeah, missed that the first time. The NY SAFE Act does this. SUPPOSEDLY, they are/already did put some amendments in to update/change this. But I have not read about them. Plus, didn't Feinstein's bill hold something about mentally ill in it? As did the background check bill?

My initial point though, was that the mentally ill bit of these laws is a dangerous add on. It'll eventually be one of the avenues they find a way to disarm all of us. They will be able to say"Well, you still have the right, just not if you are XXXX!"

    Hello 2nd Amendment friends,
I am a 40ish year old, full time employed, responsible law abiding citizen and father. I applied for a Texas CHL about eight years ago, and wanting to do the right thing, voluntarily disclosed that I was on antidepressants. I was denied my Texas CHL. Fast forward eight years and it is more important than ever to support the 2nd amendment. I would like to reapply for my CHL, however, I am still on this medication. I am not crazy, am well educated and very responsible, no criminal history.
What is the easiest, most painless way to get my Texas CHL?
    Thanks,
    Av8R

As serious as DPS takes the CHL application process, it's best to be upfront & honest. Since drs normally don't prescribe anti-depressants without some sort of a diagnosis, you should probably answer truthfully then provide as much supporting documentation as possible. I don't know what the records retention policy is on denied apps, but if you answered truthfully on the previously denied app & then change your story now, it might not go so well for you - on top of being denied again.

Translation= "I have no idea; therefore, I'll attack you and try to shift attention away from the fact."

Given my previous explanation, it would seem like I actually do have an idea, but I don't feel the need or the desire to hold your hand.

    Google is your friend.

There, I led you to the water, now I will teach you how to drink...

At the Google homepage, type in "Illinois constitutional carry"... Then press search.

I'll send you a message next time I head to shoot smart... If you like, I can give you pictures. Would that help?

So you don't have an answer, or just cannot explain it? That is not so bad. Perhaps you just could have written that instead of calling names.

And if no one answers questions here and just refers others to Google, then the forum serves no purpose.

No back to the topic at hand. Illinois will not be an open carry state if the legislature does not act. The ruling does not have that effect.

That is sadly mistaken. Just because the government in Texas treats our RIGHT as a privilege does not make it so.

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" What does "bear arms" mean to you.

    let's get it straight, person.

well stated. We forget that our rights have been restricted so far and they tax and bury them in red tape
the meaning of 2A is in accordance with the "inalienable rights the Declaration
the right to protect your life does not come from the Government, rather the Government shall not infringe upon it

If the you follow the law to legally obtain your C.C.W. from another state, then no problem.

Follow the law, and if anyone has issues with that, then they need to change the laws...

Yes you currently can do that, I do.

Well you don't get the free pass on having a background check done if you buy a firearm from a FFL, costs you about 5 minutes while the dealer phones it in. You are not exempt from the provisions of the Gun Free School Zone Act. You don't get to spend a bunch of time in a class, you don't get the opportunity to travel to have your fingerprints done electronically. No Texas CHL instructor gets dinner money from your paying him to teach you. With the regular fingerprinting that other states require you must wash you hands afterwards to get the ink off. You don't get to contribute to your states government, but you do get to give fewer dollars to another state. Being that the time frame it valid of other states is usually longer your may have to wait longer to exercise this benefit again than if you had a Texas license. No built in excuse to go to the range and launch 50 rounds downrange for qualification, so you might use that money for another vice like a titty bar. Other than not supporting Texas' archaic and backsliding CHL procedure, can't see a good reason.

So how do I explain I got a Arizona non-resident LTC/CHL, when I get pulled over by a Texas Police Officer?

    Honestly .
    Non issue .

But really though the chance of him asking just out of curiosity is high. Also there seemed to be confusion of one officer I asked and a Texas LTC instructor as well of whether using a non resident license from another state is even legal. What would you say?

Total non-issue. I've been an LEO for over twenty years and it wouldn't raise an eyebrow for me or any officers with which I am familiar.
