My Stihl FS90 is 6 years old, and starts on the 2nd pull every time.
I do not use the premixed fuel, just premium with Stihl synthetic oil.
    Never replaced anything on it.
I was a bit leery of it lasting because it uses new (at the time I got it) “4-mix” technology. I think about all Stihls use it now. Look it up if you don’t know what that is, it’s interesting.

My grounds dept at the college has 30 ish Echo weedeaters, edgers, and blowers. They run them hard every week to maintain a 1,000 acre campus. Minimal issues. The only real thing I can say that a lot of people don't realize is it is unhealthy to throttle your gas. Either keep it wide open (which they are designed for) or let it idle. Throttling the trigger leads to air filters being clogged with fuel, exhausts getting fuel in them, and clutches burning up from the constant expansion and contraction creating heat from friction. This was all taught to me by my Echo field service rep.

I have a 2-stroke Husqvarna that I put only TruFuel into that has been running strong for several years. I don't think I've even changed the spark plug.

Exactly! Haven't had any issues with misfires or it not starting so I'm not messing with it.

You nailed it though, use ethanol free gas. TruFuel is expensive but man it works.

I had a Ryobi 4-stroke. What a piece that was. It didn't help that I put regular gas in it untreated. Oops.

If you have a gasser and the fuel sits, StaBil goes a long way to keep the ethanol from fouling the fuel and gumming shit up.

I had a brand-new Yamaha gennie that had a gummed-up carb from the initial tank of fuel that sat for 4 weeks. Never had an issue after i started using StaBil.

I think the red can premixed gas lacks ethanol, that's the key.

I'll never buy another one for sure. That thing was a heap. Their drill and impact driver have been ok for what I've needed but that's about it.

Ethanol free... drink ethanol, don't let them put it in your gas!

There are different price options for getting ethanol free fuel... the bottled premix stuff at the store is expensive, but still cheaper than ruining a 2-stroke with ethanol... there are band aid additives, or find a station: https://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=TX

There's one not far outside of Canton... for me it's worth the trip.

I clean my air filter before and after with an air hose! And I'm about to buy another air filter.
It's not really good to blow out your air filter. It creates bigger holes that dust can pass through. All three auto/diesel schools I've been through as well as multiple manufacturer publications in my office advise against this. I haven't heard it in regards specifically with a weed eater engine, but I would imagine it's the same. About the only filter you should be cleaning are the oil soaked ones.

I was JUST told 1,000 acres in yesterday's meeting. I just googled it, and came up with 500. So maybe 1,000 acres was combined campuses world wide? 500 is still a lot with a lot of sidewalks, roads, curbs, flower beds, etc...

I wouldn't buy Ryobi! But that's just me. I've heard mostly bad news about them.

I’m not a fan...but I saw a great deal on a Ryobi pressure washer with a Honda engine, so I bought it.

Was really just looking for one with a Honda engine when I came across it. I figured what the heck...I’ll bite.

Stihl if gas. Had mine for years with little maintenance and no trouble. Primer bulb finally died and sold it to another member cheap as we never used it. He spent five minutes on it and got it running again.

We now have a battery Worx since we live in town. Has been great for years now. The key to any cordless system is to take the batteries out of the tools and charger when they are sitting for a bit. Makes a world of difference on their life span.

I've been abusing my Echo for 15+ years now, and it has never even hiccup'ed. Which reminds me, I probably should pull it down and grease everything.
