    R,

I know what it means, I thought perhaps you did, but I saw you simply cut and pasted from a goog source in a vain attempt at wit.

Can't stay on track regarding OC in a vehicle?

    R,

    Sounds good to me.

I find wearing my holstered pistol somewhat uncomfortable when driving, but given some of the good information here regarding a covered, but loose pistol a practice I will no longer perform.

I had considered what if I get into a collision, but shrugged it off, but no longer.

I'll duplicate your practice of securing it in my center console too.

    Enjoyed the banter.....

Entertaining discussion is always more fun than clinicial discussion, imo.

No more sanctimony than his "I'm good".

Why is it, when several people have posted correct info, others feel the need to come in and post incorrect info?

This thread should have been over after post 4.
C'mon, we love to argue. Sure the thread could have over in 2 posts but......... There is the letter of the law and the Spirit of the law. I often have my gun out tucked under my leg. Granted I am parked but technically that is still a violation for most. Should it be?

    sharkey,

    No.

If your leg covers it, it's legal, but after awhile it must get kinda uncomfortable.

Discomfort though (my opinion) doesn't enter into the legal picture.

It's out of sight therefore legal, ah, unless it's only partially covered.

Man I am trying to put the cover on my pool before all the leaves come down and you guys keep pulling me back.

Since I am a CC guy and none of this applies to other firearms, for example I could put my MP5K in the same place and it is not a violation, it seems to me it should not be a violation for a handgun either.

Well from the discussion, it seems the legislature should go back this year and change the law. Either we have OC or we do not.

And often reality is not limited to only two choices. Open Carry with limits is still a reasonable position.

True. Reasonable but confusing. Would tucking my gun under my thigh be in plain view if you saw the grip? I can stick an AR Carbine on the passenger floor board but throw the more convenient AR pistol there and well there could be a problem.

Both of those options might be legal but certainly not reasonable. Am unsecured firearm in a motor vehicle simply seems like a not too bright choice.

But again, open carry is more like a spectrum than black and white. There are places it may well be restricted and reasonably so, times it might be restricted and reasonably so, conditions involving the ability of the carrier to reasonable carry any handgun and many other considerations.

At times I go above the speed limit, is it lawful? No, but I most often get away with it. The law is pretty clear, it's up to you to know what you can get away with.

In regards to the reason most of us carry a firearm in the first place and that being to defend ourselves and our families, have you ever tried drawing your weapon while strapped into a car seat by a safety belt? Not very tactical is it? Do some research and find a way to safely secure your firearm in the vehicle while at the same time giving yourself the advantage to quickly accessing your weapon on a seconds notice. For what its worth, I use a seat carry holster that fastens to the seat and has a folding pouch that can accommodate a full sized pistol and is positioned right behind my calves. They come in different colors and blend in well with the seat and offer concealibility and quick access. It's not for everyone but works for me. I'm sure there are other designs that allow a quicker draw. Find something that works for you and give yourself the best tactical advantage you can find.
