My neighbors voted for Robert O' and made no secret of the fact that he is pro-weed. They still have his sign up hoping someone will tear it down for their video pleasure. (Ring)

Fact is we can all look forward to more of the outside $ in Texas BECAUSE they (left) have to knock off Texas or Florida then it is all over for good. Soros and his globalists friends will concentrate more and more $ here and in Florida from now on. The more illegals they can get in both the better AND the more $ they spend the closer they will get over time.

The import of Cali folks is not good either. Even their conservatives are nowhere near our values as a general rule PLUS they bring their kiddos who were educated some there. I have seen what it has done to Arizona who has way fewer native AZ folks than imports from Cali AND New York AND New Jersey AND Canada.

(Disclaimer: long ass post. Proceed at your own risk of insanity).

Read all the post and agree with 99 percent of the opinions. I’m not a Texan. I moved here, got a job and DL. I’m an Oregonian. The trend of bitching about California is comical. I grew up listening to my dad complaining about them. Democrat or republican. Too a degree I’m a product of my father. Obviously. Just like him, i don’t get along with most city people, even fellow republicans.

In my mind it’s always been about rural America vs city slicking wannabe men. California is gone. Washington is gone. Oregon is gonna be gone. Portland and Corvallis are preventing a republican governor. Corvallis used to be a nice place where people didn’t need to lock the house and a good mix of liberals and conservatives lived together. Respected each other even. The town said no to new business. Fast forward...more people move in. They say yes to an ass ton of mini malls and stupid stores that do nothing but cater to yuppies, that are more worried about how nice a car they drive than protecting our rights and privacy.

Living in Bedford isn’t so bad. The street I’m on is ok. Outside of that in hurst or Euless it’s just loser city. My impression of Texas is still very good. I’m noticing the people I have issues with sound like their from out of state. Again I have mentioned this in another thread but a true pro gun Oregonian is like seeing Bigfoot. No ones gonna believe you seen me. Anypoop, I absolutely love Texas outside the metroplex. There I can find more or less my kind of people. Plus it’s easy for me to open up and not be viewed as crazy here. You open up to people in Oregon you like guns or like to have bug out get togethers and ohhhh boy. I do that here and I make friends. Lol.

I’ll do my part to keep my Texas votes red. I believe in my heart as long as Texas is red it won’t turn it’s back on gun owners. Even if the feds pull shit. I may be wrong and you guys could show me so but it’s what I believe. I feel Texans at their core values, have my back on guns.

I believe you mention in one post a while back, dont think of yall as invaders ... think yall as reinforcements.
Any out of state that has that view is more than welcome

    :welcome:
I view it that way, too. :) I believe Texas and Idaho will be this countries last stand on gun rights.

Notice how the dems love the electoral college when it works for them and then scream ....

There is an issue that has come up before in the context of several issues.

I'm still waiting for someone, Dem or GOP, to present me with a rational argument for keeping the electoral college.

The usual recommendation is something lame and non-compelling like "Dumb ass, look in any middle school civic text.".
When I read about the electoral college all I find is an old moribund relic from centuries ago.

I say one citizen gets one vote. Like when we got for mayors or a governor.
    Winner-take-all be damned.

    Anyone?

I would argue that in big cities they also need an electoral college system.

Without the EC why would any potential POTUS ever visit Nebraska, Ohio, Montana or nearly any othe state? Campaign in NY, Boston a few places in CA, Houston and the Meteoplex and you have the whole thing covered. With the EC you at least have to pretend to care about their issues. It is the best attempt to level the playing field between population densities and ideologies. Direct democracy can work on smaller scales like local elections but the EC allows for a consensus over a large area or group of people or both.

Because it’s specifically called for in Art 2, Sec 1 of the Constitution and the 12th Amendment.

Your position is the equivalent of stipulating to 2A and then saying 2A is an moribund relic from centuries ago and to present a compelling argument to keep it.

    https://www.archives.gov/federal-register/electoral-college/provisions.html

So, here’s the argument. In order to modify the Electoral College, it would require a Constitutional Amendment. To make it go away would require a Constitutional Convention. Either/both require ratification by at least 38 states.

Interestingly, direct election thru a popular vote is no where to be found in the Constitution or its Amendments: this is because the US is a constitutional republic, not a direct democracy.

You can say what you want, but dissolution of the EC is tantamount to revolution.

I don’t know that the middle of the spectrum is beginning to lean far left; instead I think the far left is better at motivating their base to get out and vote. Some of this may be due to the incessant pandering of socialist/communist theories, market interference theories, and flat out vilification of anything other than what the far left believes in by the media.

The other thing to consider is there’s no such thing as a free lunch. In its current form, Medicare and Medicaid consumed 25% of the federal budget, to the tune of $588 billion in 2016 to cover 55.5 million people.

That’s about $10K per beneficiary. For 326 million Americans, that cost would balloon to $5.5 trillion, or about $2T more than the entire 2018 budget. Just for Medicare.

One point to ponder: if the Sallie Mae got out of the student loan business, would the private sector assume the same levels of loan risk?

wanted to give you your due. I just quoted that and posted it on twitter. I've been screaming this for over a decade. Social Security is a ponzi scheme and as we live longer Medicare and Medicaid are NOT affordable.

    Some good, practical points there.

Affordable for who? It certainly isn't affordable for me. My Medicare, supplemental and drug plans together cost me $5,000 a year in round numbers, while they paid out a total of less than $200 for me last year. What a deal!

You need to shop around. My supplemental and drug is <$2500/yr and I have the premium plan, zero deductible. My out of pocket last year was zero.

The votes none of you are counting is the new batch of brainwashed 18- 20 year old's. They changed the elections in 2018 in many places, now there is going to more of them in 2020. WE can only count on rural America to save us.

I moved to This Great State 4 months ago with my Wife From Commifornia. Obviously Texas is Better than Commiland in the sense that There is a 2nd Amendment, Lower Taxes, ect... But Iv got to ask this Nail biting Million Doller question. With the recent BETO scare. Do any of you think Texas will Turn Blue in the near future ? Do you think there will me major Restrictions on the 2nd Amendment like They did in Commifonia ?

California is a blueprint for liberals and a warning ( call to arms) for conservatives. Part of how a couple districts flipped in Texas as well as the close senate race are a direct result of illegal immigration and anchor babies and the reproduction habits of the typical groups involved. Never forget though white liberals allowed it to happen for money and power.
