CAtoDFW2021 Welcome to the greatest state in the Union and to the best gun forum on the internet. To say we are proud of this state and forum is an understatement. To say we are defiant to those who would want to change either one, again, is an understatement. Standing along one of our interstates, posing with a gun is probably not the best idea, not so much because of Texans, but because we have so many travelers from all over the USA using that interstate. Any one of them could call in a "Man Brandishing a Gun" to the local authorities and you first days in Texas might not be as pleasurable as you would like. Live the Texas way, enjoy the Texas freedoms and become a participant of this great state and forum and you will, one day forget all about the ways of the western states. I say it that way instead of just picking on California because even Portland Oregon is voting to ban anything going to and from Texas due to our vote on abortion.

Wow. Here's a suggestion. Act like you are pro-gun, and pro-freedom and leave California behind you.
His initial post certainly struck me as pro-gun and pro-freedom.

What did his first post contain that made anyone think otherwise? I'll be danged if I can see it.

And a general comment, not aimed at any one person:
He may have been a little sensitive responding to the wipe your boots remark, but nothing merits the crap he has been shown.

Call me a skeptic, or a cynic, or whatever, but my experiences and observations of many people over the years, those who have to point it out repeatedly, make me really wonder, or if they are just over-compensating to disguise who they really are and what the they believe in.

My comments were simply a friendly suggestion and advice and some constructive criticism based on some recent events with some previous "transplants" that went off the rails and got banned.

The advice and suggestion was worth every penny he paid for it.

No offense but can you stop the knee-jerk comments that assume every person moving from CA is an anti-gun liberal or RINO?

I already made it clear in my post that I'm not one of those people, between owning a black rifle, "Kommiefornia", and already holding a TX LTC.

If this is how you welcome even the most pro-gun, pro-freedom transplants from blue states, maybe you're the one who needs to wipe your stupidity off your boots.

And you didn't even answer my question...
I will second wipe your boots to get it all off before you come over.
I spent a bunch of time in rural NorCal during the Camp Fire in 2018. As pro freedom as the State of Jefferson folks were, they had been living in the gilded cage that is California for so long that they were absolutely shocked at some of the freedom we have in non communist states.
The most radical, conservative/libertarian of them would be considered moderate democrats here in Texas.

Remember you are a refugee and not a missionary.

I'd do it and not realize I was supposed to be skeered until I posted pics here and heard the effeminate wailing.
We must be reading different threads. Or using a different dictionary.

Telling someone their idea is stupid after they asked isnt effeminate wailing.

I'm finally making the move from Kommiefornia to Texas! Plan is to enter via I-40. I want to park my car by the side of the road and pose with a black rifle next to the "Welcome to Texas" sign:

I know that carrying a loaded rifle is legal in Texas as long as you're not using it to threaten someone. Are there any other legal concerns I should be aware of? e.g. Would I be considered disturbing the peace if drivers from blue states/cities or fudds see me and report me to the police?

I imagine that out there if I told the local police during a stop that I am moving from California and bringing all my firearms, and show them my LTC, they would be very happy. I just want to double check here to make sure.
This thread is TLDR, but if he isn't "brandishing" the rifle in a threatening manner, he ain't doin' anything wrong and we should welcome another rifle to the state...

To the OP, sorry for the "rough" welcome, but maybe once you're here you'll understand the skepticism, since we have had our fair share of troublemakers lately. Tough times mean you have to have a bit thick skin.

Some of y'all need to work on your friend / foe recognition skills. I mean, the dude just wants to take a picture with his rifle next to a sign. It isn't like he wants to ride around on his motorcycle strapped with an AR pistol or something.
