Yeah, that’s kind of what I’m worried about. ERCOT still clearly is screwing this up.
It's not Ercot's fault totally. It's the damned uncontrolled growth with everyone moving to Texas, plus all the fucking bitcoin mining.
You should blame the individual cities for allowing the growth to spread like a cancer without building out the infrastructure to handle it.

I kind of agree. But if we want our own grid and we put them in charge they need to do the work. They have had two years. It’s not better.

Well said. Crypto is very power hungry

The February 2021 issues have been addressed. That fell squarely on the shoulders of the natural gas suppliers.

This kind of heat isn't uncommon.
If you want Uber reliability, get ready to pay California energy prices.

A backup generator is like a carry gun.
    Or an insurance policy.

    Nothing man-made is failsafe.
    Nothing.

Generation is expensive and slow to build.
    No matter the "source".
The grid is as stable as it's ever been.
The federally subsidized snake oil crap is to blame.
    We need coal.
    Obama fucked that up

They cannot force plants to stay open. Plants have closed due to taxpayers subsidies for wind creating an unfair advantage.

They cannot force anyone to build plants.

Most of the steps that could be taken require legislation.

Great so when they **** up again and the dems run it as the main talking point we are just going to bend over and take it? Because as you know everyone can afford a backup generator especially the past two years. Now when we lose seats because people are sick of BASIC services that we pay for are barely functional at the beginning of summer before it gets super hot, I’m sure it will be worth it.

Which is going to suck, because the morons aren’t going to vote for those in power that did nothing to fix this. And yeah, it needs to be fixed. We can bitch about all the people. They are here now, the grid is barley working now. Wish they weren’t here but the government invited them so now we need to fix it.
