Highly recommend a different grip module. I spent $70 on a WC grip module and it made a world of difference. Completely different gun, imho.

You may be on to something there. I have a big paw and the 365 has been a bit of a challenge in the accuracy department. I will reach out this weekend to find out more about that.

Heck, why not require as part of licensing firing from behind barricades. Drawing and shooting. Rapid fire. Etc.
All of that sounds awesome. yes.

I'd also like a course requirement on identifying cover vs concealment. People get this entirely wrong during gun fights.

There are courses that teach those type of drills & training.... you just have to pay extra for it. I don't think it should it be mandatory for an LTC.

Leave it up to the individual on how much high speed training they want to get. I can just see some 75 year old grandma with a 357 revolver trying to do cover & reload drills just to get a LTC. The class would take twice as long.

Any other additional requirements you would like to see implemented in TEXAS? agility, vision, height, weight, physicals?
Most TEXANS would like the see the permit process simplified not more complex.

Are you running extended 12 or 15 rnd mags? Or just the 10rd?

Maybe the 365XL would have been a little better in the hand for you.

Extended mags. It helps holding the gun, but the gun is a bit small. I have a larger pistol (P228) but wanted a pocket pistol The 365 works great for that even with an extended mag.

Planning to find out more about the grip module. It may make a big difference in how I shoot it. But the pocket pistol thing is what I wanted from the 365. I guess I thought in instances that I might be using it would be more up close situations where long range accuracy would not come into play.

My 5 yard groups with the 365 were pretty good. The 45 ft shots not so much.

While we are at it, I need a mozambique, a fight to your rifle, and a transition to rifle.

If you’ve got a light in your body or your gun, well you get the night version, too. Sweep any neutral or good guy target with the muzzle and you fail.

These are excellent suggestions, though I feel NODs might price some people out of the LTC exam if included so I'm on the fence... leaning towards including though.

Texas enacted its LTC permit to enable its citizens to provide standards to provide safe carry of a weapon to protect the holder as well as the public. The purpose a permit is not to qualify for law enforcement. The ability to avoid participation in a gun fight is preferable to selection of cover and concealment in my opinion.

    I agree with that.

Beyond "permitting" or "licensing" though, I think in general a good level of physical fitness is a good idea in any fight. Yeah the state can't "require" it, but if you're pushing 280 pounds, can't walk very far without pain or running out of breath, high blood pressure, I think it's hard for people to say they are prepared for a real fight.

I'm not an elitist either when it comes to "gear" or being a Navy SEAL looking guy, but I'm just talking the basics.

Do you own an AR15? Can you hit a steel plate at 150-200 yards with irons?
Can you run 1-2 miles without stopping at a decent pace?
Can you ruck 50 pounds for 5 miles?

I did a carbine course in Clarksville, Tennessee a couple of years ago, before COVID. It was taught by former CAG, and other team guys. $725 for 2 days and about 800-1000 rounds of ammo. There was a guy who flew all the way out there from Montana and he looked like a gravy biscuit with mash potatoes. The instructor basically told him he couldn't run the course, they would refund him. They let him know he was done for that day, and he would be a danger to himself and the other students if they let him do the course.

I remember feeling really bad for the guy, and felt the CAG guys had treated him harshly.

But after running the course, I knew why they sent him home. He just wasn't ready.
