Change locks that the thief may have access to ASAP.
And as stated, start a paper trail with HPD.
It's all a bunch of crap you are going to have to deal with, but it is what it is at this point.

Hope you somehow get your keys back though.

Get back on the job with him, put a dye pack in your backpack, tell him about the big score you made at the Choctaw Casino you made. Nature will take its course.

No cameras. Im filing a report and confronting the guy tomorrow. Going to ttell him I filed a police report if you have my shit it better magically appear and your going to get a HUGE break this time, if not good luck.

Even if I getmy shit back...good luck Im just blowing smoke up his ass in the hopes I get my keys the money is for sure gone.

You don't want to get into a fight because you will lose your job, yet you're going to be confrontational and threatening with him. Yeah, smart move.

Mike, I re-read this thread and saw some very good advice from people who have "been there". Then you went right ahead and did what we all agree is a very bad idea. You will confront this guy directly with no concrete proof, make a stink at your work, threaten him and have nothing to back it up.

I feel like 30 minutes of my life has been totally wasted. Why didn't you just go off on him to begin with and NOT bother us with it?

The real cause of this problem is that you left money and valuables unattended. There is NO WAY that could be viewed as responsible behavior!

You'll stir this up and it will only showcase your own irresponsibility. Then again, the guilty party may not be the guy that you accused.

As my late Father used to say: "Have your glad."

One thing that nobody seems to have mentioned. You need to talk to your HR department about this. Not because you are doing an end run around your boss, but they need a record of this event. Talk to them about whatever plans you have to assure they are comfortable with it.

In Texas you are treading on dangerous ground when you decide to take action on a work incident on your own without their support and knowledge.

Great idea! We used some dye on the top area of the door closers in school once. Somebody was bending them down frequently. Next day, kid showed up in the office with blue dye all over his hands and arms. Moisture activates it (as in washing your hands!) and it's almost impossible to get rid of for several days. Done deal. Gave us cause to make up a new saying ....................... " The dye don't lie!" In fact, after that incident and word got around, vandalism dropped considerably for several months.

Definitely do not confront him, that's a fools move, especially when you don't have proof. Your boss will do something and if he doesn't for whatever reason, then go above him if you have the option. There is always a route to be taken. Like others have said... Get a paper trail going and forget about the money...That is long long gone.

Doesn't matter who's vehicle I'm in, if it is valuable and I can't keep it on my person, it gets hidden and/or locked away. I've had a pair of sunglasses stolen from me and that's about it...(walked into a gas station, left my window down, with my glasses on the dash, walked out and they were gone, along with a tube of Chapstick...).

Sucky situation for you, but you haven't done yourself any favors so far from what I've read. Lots of good advice here, take it or leave it. Id certainly be after my keys (maybe get yourself a clip so you can keep them on a belt loop and out of other's reach from now on. )

Why would you NOT have your keys in your pocket?

Why would you NOT have your keys in your pocket?

That's ideal, but I have enough crap in my pockets throughout the day that my keys create problems so I clip them to a loop and let my rest in the top of my pocket so they don't flip around and make noise.

Come on by the shop. I finished the AR
