But if he was trespassing on your property and shooting at you, you would be justified. Sorry your dog accidentally caught the bullet.Don't know if he is correct, but more than likely you would be arrested and charged. I doubt you could convince a jury it was justifiable homicide or self defense.
Another thing is, how can you be sure of where it was engraved? There's gotta be more than one place to have that done.
If I'm you, I'm ordering a sheath today.

Kind of a long story but the dog was left there years ago as a puppy. My great aunt primarily took care of it but it grew fond of the neighbor as well. Even the grinch had a dog haha
He’s the kind of guy to tell you what you can and can’t do on your property. Thinks the sun rises just for him
Yeah, but he also sounds like a potential Austin area state rep.Sounds to me like he's missed a few regularly scheduled necessary ass kickings!
Anyone that has knowledge of the law correct this if it’s wrong but I was talking to the sheriffs deputy out there one time. I asked him what I could do if a neighbor shot my dog on my property. Could I shoot him in defense. He said (if I remember correctly) “no, that is simply animal cruelty and trespassing” not justifiable for shooting. Is he correct?

I saw an option for engraving on their website so I assumed from there

I wouldn't give a crap if he was running for mayor, governor, or president! Everybody needs an ass kicking if they deserve it! Mentally or physically.Yeah, but he also sounds like a potential Austin area state rep.
Ok. That went right over my head. There are some privacy issues here that may be coming into play. I found a pet parrot one day. Flew right down to me from a tree. Red Eclectus. It was banded on the leg so I called and tracked it down. They would not release the name of the listed owner to me but would forward my info to them. Might be something similar.
They probably can’t release the info of the person who bought that particular engraved knife. But they can send a parrot out to tell the guy someone found his knife.Ok. That went right over my head.

Thanks for clearing that up.Somebody's red eclectus parrot got loose.
It landed on his shoulder. The bird had a band on its leg. He called the number, but they would only take his info, not give out the owners info.
