OK, so one question I have that none of the coverage has addressed - if this guy was shooting up APD headquarters...why was the only response from the mounted patrolmen who were putting their horses on trailers? Was there nobody inside the building?

I still haven't read exactly where the BG was dropped or exactly where the officer made his shot from. Red X is assuming BG is on that X in from of HQ. Each gold star is a 312 ft shot. I could only "shoot" from the road since thats where the Google car goes.

These distances/scenarios should be accurate within a few feet.

Zoom in and look at the trashcan. Base a human male off of that. Trash can is what? 3-4 ft tall?

Based on your pictures, from what I know of the area, I'd say 4 is the most likely location of the cop, but then that puts him shooting towards I-35. Next likely would be 3,followed by 1. I could see him taking a shot from 1 easier than 3, because he has something of a backstop in the police station building. But I can't see any reason for him to be at 1 if he's tending to horses. I can't think of any reason a mounted cop would be tending to horses at 2 unless that's where the trailers were. And then he's shooting under I-35 across a very popular and usually crowded parking area.

Lots of unknowns. Id like to know where the BG was and where the LEO was. Might do some asking around. Know some guys that know some APD cops.

I could have made that shot though....with a rifle, not holding horses with 1 hand.

Bad guy pretty much has to be where you have him, maybe backed up diagonally across that intersection. Which doesn't really change the potential locations or shooting angles of the cop.

Btw I walked by the federal courthouse today and saw the bullet holes. There were a lot of them all up and down the building. He shot up the guard house pretty good.

I saw pix on Twitter. Im familiar with the area but havent been down there since. Im sure its a trip.

See what Acevdo and the city council push for. See what happens when the county kicks out SAXET! This didn't happen back when we had the show!

If this guy really wanted to kill or terrorize people, there are dozens of condos and hotels downtown he could have shot up instead of a couple of empty buildings followed by a guarantee of a bad outcome for him.

From what I gathered he ended his shooting spree at APD HQ right? Apparently the officers inside were taking cover.
I'm sure some were, I imagine others were assessing the situation and trying to figure out a plan. As I understand it, it all went down pretty quickly so presumably, the cop that shot him was probably just in the right place at the right time.

Thats for sure. Not sure where they usually park their horse trailers. Need to ask a dirty hippie cyclist.

Yeah, you've got me curious as well. Frankly, I shudder to think about a cop taking a shot from some of those locations, despite the positive outcome this time.
