Seems as though some are a might recoil sensitive, I reckon...

lol.....the never ending debate....which is the best caliber? Which is the best pistol?

Neither will ever be definitively answered in my lifetime...

Hey now, I didn't say that.
I made no claims one way or the other.
It's just that it seems a large number of people claim that .40 is too snappy.

I am sure you have heard that at least once, lol.

I have heard it before, and even bought a pistol cheap off a guy who hated his 40. My only 40 is a Sig 229, and I love to shoot it.

That Sig is awesome. Very nice to shoot.

I actually took a lady shooting that had been shooting only 9mm. The day before that, I bought a Taurus p740 slim. I let her shoot it while we were at the range and she fell in love with it. She bought it from me that day. Let her have it for the same as I paid. The smile was worth not making anything on it.
She really likes shooting a .40 cal.

Some shooters like some people are sheeple. They can't help themselves they have to follow the crowd.
Latest fad is 9mm really is as good as a .40. (Insert the sound of a goat herd in dry grass.)
    The .327 is better than a .357
.223 is too small to kill anything
It's how the firearms industry makes their money.
Then there is the Snowflake input. This Berreta is too heavy, and not short finger friendly. The 9mm is not enough to hurt anybody. I shoot Nerf darts at an expert level.

Yes, I hear it a lot, actually......didn't think you were advocating the .40 as the best caliber....you wouldn't open that can of drama...lol....

Have a few handguns in 40 and still prefer it over all other rounds. Love my P229 in 40! That is my home defense gun. The FNS full size in 40 is also amazing! I have noticed with some 9mm handguns I have owned there were issues when they were new with weak 9mm ammo. Never had a problem like that with my handguns in 40.

There seems to be a common theme here..., love for a Sig P229 in .40. I like mine too. But since .40 cal is obsolete I can easily convert it to a 9mm. And then convert it back to .40 cal once it becomes latest and greatest caliber again.

    I own a P229 in 40 and a para p16-40

rarely ever shoot them, I think I've got 400-500 rounds in a can somewhere. I shoot my P229 with the 357sig bbl usually.

looking for a conversion for the P16-40. Not sure 10mm would tickle my fancy though since I already have a Delta Elite

I just cast up a large lot of about 7700 .401 180gr bullets because I acquired quite a few 40 cal guns over the years. There are just so many cheap 40 s&w guns on the market right now many will regret snagging up these bargains once the supply dries up. Once fired brass is cheap as well. I load my 180gr to about 800fps and recoil isn't much of an issue vs 9mm for me.

Interesting how the 40 keeps being described as obsolete. I would hardly say it is at all. It is just not the latest and greatest mainstream round. Not that it matters, but 99% of LE officers I talk with and know still prefer and carry the 40. I agree that the selection of 40 cal handguns on market right now at amazing prices is good for us!

Got a trade in glock 23c for $430 with 4 mags. Ammo slightly more than 9mm and I can't tell the recoil difference. Was my first glock and 40 cal
Had a pic. Will edit later and post

Yeah, my first Glock was a 23c, bought new in the early 90's.

ETA: and obviously, since I don't sell guns, I still have it.

Won't be selling mine. I love it. Light, concealable, accurate, reliable and cool
Sanded finger grooves and have her a nice trigger guard

I had a P229 in .40, but didn't really care for it and sold it. I do like my P226 and P239 in .40, tho. I like them even more with the .357sig barrel. Maybe I just don't like the P229...

    I like my 9mm P226 better ;)

Have had a S&W M&P40 for 3-4 years. While I carry .45ACP, still like this caliber and gun for the stopping power and number of available rounds in the magazine. Gun hasn't missed a beat in over 1000 shots, and turned into a pleasure for me to shoot after replacing the trigger with an Apex. Having said that, the wife originally bought the gun for home protection because her Air Force son told her 9mm was wimpy. She is tall, thin, and light-boned, so a bit on the recoil adverse side. After around 50 shots she is done. Looks like we'll be buying her a 9mm and I'll have this one all to myself.
