    Is casting considered reloading?

How about crappy casting? That’s what I did today!

What causes frosted bullets? They started out shiny and wrinkly. I dipped the end of the die thing in the vat and they got better then worse pretty fast.

I went from ~780 to 850 and they frosted up.

I shut it down and took my son in law to the range.

Now we’re bowling and my day still sucks!

Frosted bullets are fine. Check a couple with your calipers and make sure they're bigger than what you need so you can still size them down. As long as they're the right size they'll shoot. You might not notice match grade accuracy.

I'm sure you realized at some point when you were looking at all your lead, mold, and pot thinking "if the neighbors see me they're gonna think I'm cooking meth." If you hadn't gotten to that point before now, welcome to that point. The neighbors think you're crazy.

But seriously, some of mine frost but they're plinking rounds. Can't see it when they're coated. As long as the frosting is even and not spotty then it's fine.

Jesus Christ man. Are you pushing Mach 7 with those?
    Yes, frosty all over, check.

Shiny wrinkly? Throw them back in?
If they are wrinkled, then ya. Throw them back in. Sometimes you might get one that doesn't fill all the way, throw those back as well.

morning, the 6.5 rem mag is supposed to shoot 120-140gr.
bullets. the 6.5rem mag. is a case made from the 375 HH.
when chambering a 6.5 barrel made sure the smithy knows
to chamber for the longer bullets. I did not do this.
my bad. so I moved down in bullet weight so bullet
would not take up to much room in the case. I found the
100gr. nosler fits the bill. the bullet shoots very well.
so I ordered the 100gr. TTSX barnes. the bullet length
is .125 longer than the noslers which is nothing to affect
the accuracy. the seating depth is the magic in
    barnes bullets. justme gbot tum.

I managed to get 600 rounds of 9mm loaded today. My little feathered buddy wanted me to come back in the house.

Thursday my shooting buddy came over and he cranked out 700 rounds of 9mm and I managed 500 rounds of .45 ACP.

The mold needs to be kept hot. I preheat on a hot plate. I've never had a problem keeping them hot after that, actually I have to run a fan to keep them from getting too hot.

Mold material makes a difference too. Aluminum heats up the quickest, iron next and then brass. A four cavity brass mold is remarkably heat stable.

I ordered a Lee 454 mold for use in my 450, 454, and 460 loads. Some plastic ammo boxes as well. Need to find some gas checks now.

Also got 8# mp330 being delivered today.

Also won another upper last night which I'm trading for a complete lower, an FA trimmer/prep machine, and some credit for their shop.

Thinking about getting into casting since I'm going to be spending a lot of time at home. Not sure I really have a good outdoor place for it though.
