I guess those rattlers that used to lay up on the top sill in the well house flew or jumped up there.

And the next day, the neighbor got this in his backyard. He said it measured 30”.

My sister in law has a ton of these at her house in Waco.

The cats usually scare them away. But Birddog is correct. They are generally not aggressive at all.

Are timber rattlers protected? Not sure why else they would invoke a fine. Never seen one that big. All the ones I've seen were under 18"

There are a couple of groups that live in our area. A few are bold enough to come up on the porch. View attachment 174199 View attachment 174200

Years ago a girl I was sweet on had them on their farm. I had not been around them, and just when I was going in for a smooch, one sounded off. Scared the crap out of me. It was about the worst sound my 14 year old brain had ever encountered.

Sounds like her Dad had that planned just right ...

I kill copperheads when I find them. I'm not going to take a chance on my family, my dogs or me being bitten by one. I neighbor got nailed by an adolescent copperhead a few years ago, and it really f'd him up for several weeks. Spent some time in the hospital.

The other snakes that I can identify as non-venomous, I leave alone.

Look at the eyes, they're round.

Round = Harmless, beneficial, eats rodents.

If you can’t immediately identify a snake the absolute best thing you can do is leave it thefuck alone.

Teach your crotch fruit and dogs to do the same thing and y’all won’t get bit.
