One of them there antique thumbusters? Can't afford a Harley huh? I never had a Harley that leaked and still don't. Just repeating rumors about the pre 91 models IIRC.

The SAA is one of the finest self defense weapons ever. It is far more accurate at longer handgun distances (25 yds) compared to a little 9mm concealed carry pistol and far more effective if a hog starts chasing me. Plus I am a geezer and just love single action... I have owned Harleys but mostly all metrics; Jap bikes and Triumphs. I have owned a LOT of bikes. I am in the business and it kind of goes with the territory. Today I own a KZ1000 shaft project I will never get to but ride when I can with the missus on my Goldwing trike (I am a geezer like I said and have a touch of vertigo). My last Harley was an Ultra (it didn't leak...).

I also want to add that magnetizing or de-magnetizing a gun wont affect its ability to shoot. Neither will it affect ammo......brass is non magnetic. It cant be induced to fire or explode or implode because of a magnetic field. That whole story is bull hockey.

It would be fun to see what happened with a full mag of Tula steel cased Rusky junk ammo. I wonder if anyone has ever robbed a bank with a Mosin Nagant 91/30? Fixed bayonet? I am dizzy thinking about such things.

Close to an energized coil......it would be sucked in but would not detonate.....because no primer strike. magnetism doesn't ignite powder.

That's why bayo lugs became an assaulty no-no feature during the AWB94. Because of all those drive-by bayonettings.

Your story doesn't ring true my friend. Before you are anywhere near an operating MRI coil as a patient or a tech..........you must remove all metal. They aren't going to put you on a table with your boots on dude. COMPLETE BS.

I get MRIs with boots and zippers on all the time.

In all cases the guys either said they had guns and were told to put them on a table or didnt report the gun and they hit the machines. Some even went off in people's pockets cause safeties were disabled or springs over come.

The stories are out there look em up. Especially if you are going to be a radiology tech. Multiple stories. Different incidents.

The guy having the gun in his boot sucked up his leg said he didnt have metal. A MRI tech related that story on a police forum

The stories about armored magnatizing AR firing pins to induce random malfunctions are also in more than one place. Dont know how or why it causes problems but it does randomly, probably military primers and a slowed firing pin.

As for cops chasing a guy thru, my last 2 mri suites had 3 doors. One into the machine room.thrn into the operators room and the cat scanner room. All connected all have a door to the hall way.

In DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services, SCOTUS ruled that, with very rare exception, the police have no duty to protect people from harm committed by other people.

    Edit: typo

There is no federal requirement to act, SCOTUS doesn't look at State's laws except for questions of constitutionality. Texas requires peace officers to act.

It's as simple as; Can you keep from pressing the trigger on accident, negligently, and can you be responsible enough to keep unauthorized users away from your pistol? If so, why not carry with a round in the chamber. The ONLY reason not to, is because you don't trust yourself. Hypothetical situations don't just happen. People make series of decisions to bring them to fruition.

If you put it on a book case at home, sure, keep the chamber clear. If it's on your hip, it should be ready to go. Would you keep your break pedal out of reach and push a button that moves it into place when you think you're ready to use it?

There’s only been a million discussions of this subject ever since the advent of the automatic pistol, but why not give it a whirl for the benefit of the relatively new folks?
Carry what you want, however you want, as long as A) you are responsible and able to do so safely, and B) you are competent and skilled enough to make it count when you need it.
And don’t over think it. It’s a pistol, not a Swiss watch. Use common sense, good technique and carry/train/practice often enough to gain reflexive familiarity with your weapon, and you’ll find that it gets easier as you go forward.

Carry guns are kept with a chambered round. Every other gun is kept "cruiser ready" condition. I don't personally believe in keeping guns completely unloaded, as that makes them rather useless paperweights in the event they are needed with expediency. I can reach into my gun cabinet and grab any of the guns in there, chamber a round, and bring it to bare if the need arose.
