When I go to a garage sale and they've printed off listed for sale items from ebay with the asking price (usually higher than it's worth) and they won't bargain with you. Its a freaking garage sale. Supposed to be cheap. Ugh..

Oh, hey dude. Welcome to the forum. You should head to the Introductions forum and start a thread to introduce yourself. Good to see a new guy jumping in to the smartassery in Off-Topic.

Damn government made a business spent $10,000 to build this ridiculous ramp system in case one guy in a wheelchair needed to go into a industrial parts supply store every 3 years.

That was my point. Both systems are based on an arbitrary measurement. Why are there 69 seconds in a minute and 69 minutes in an hour? And why 24 hours in a day? All arbitrary
I have no problem with 69 ... or 68, or 70 - as long as the base unit is well defined. <-that could be taken a lot of ways.

Fractions are funny too. I remember as a kid, dad asked mom for a measurement. She replied with some number and 1/3 of an inch. Dad about blew up and wanted her to show him where the tape measure is marked 1/3 of an inch.

Metric is newer than our units of measurement. Europe was a major trading partner for most countries thus why they changed to metric.
Both do same job. Even with precision measurements. It is like Digital and Analog. With a good analog miltimeter you can tune a circuit much smoother than trying to think digital (some have tuning bar graph). With a good digital multimeter there is an illusion of more accuracy. In reality, it is not always accurate as it appears to be.

There was enough pushback on the cursive thing that it's being taught again, at least in some school districts. Abandoning it is part of the socialist agenda - if you can't read cursive, you can't read legal documents from before the 1900s. Including the Constitution. If you can't go back to the source and verify, then they can tell you history says anything they want it to.
Totally agree. And that is why they no longer teach "history" in public schools. Or if they do, it is more scifi than history.

They make a big deal out of PI. 3.14........................etc

    The guy that codified it?

    22/7. Simple....
I own a lot of cook books, not a single one uses metric measurements. And they use fractions. I'm fine with it. I'm 75 and am old enough to make my own decisions. Have not much use for bureaucraps.
Too hard to divide 361 by 12?

    :roflfunny:

Precision is a relative thing. This is the essence of the digital vs analog thing.

Yes, but today we are drowning in complexity. (most of it is unnecessary).

Call me obstinate but I could not possibly care less what the "rest of the modern world" does and would just as soon they kept their opinions AND their systems to themselves.

    You say that;

    but,

Everyone educated in both prefers metric.

It just makes more sense and is so much easier.

Wether you like it or not; much of our USA is already metric, and has been for decades: Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, Medicine, Machining, Tools, etc. Even illegal drugs clme in ‘’Kilos’’.

’’Arrogance & Ignorance’’ make for a bad & really dangerous combination; you seem to exhibit both in spades.

    Good Luck !
