I've got a buckmark and a Ruger: same old story, both are great shooters, Ruger sucks to take apart. I'm interested in adding the S&W Victory .22 after playing with one a bit at SHOT..

My LGS just got one of those Victorys in. Impressive to say the least and am patiently waiting for them to get the suppressor ready model in.

A fair point. I have several of both. the best way to tell which you prefer is not what people say, but its how that pistol feels. Both have slightly different angles and people generally instantly prefer one or the other. Being both are pretty even that can be the determiner for many people.

Also keep in mind when handling the Ruger, the all steel MKIII and the polymer MKIII 22/45 have different grip angles.

I love these debates, though ultimately it's like debating which cologne smells best on your wife/GF!
Good products, matured over decades of market acceptance tweaking, balanced with manufacturing efficiency.

Handle them as much as possible.
Ideally shoot samples that friends may own.

I have a decades-old Belgian Browning Challenger that is just wicked accurate because it fits my hand and I trust it, though a couple friends don't like the way it points.
No amount of experienced opining here can replace your "feels good in my palm" opinion.

    It's a ford/chevy or nikon/canon decision

I got to shoot one this past weekend (S&W Victory) but I'm not a pistol shooter so take this with a chunk of salt...

It felt good in the hand, trigger was good, the weight of the barrel helped to keep it stable, and the green fiber sights were really nice. I was able to keep 10 shots inside a 8-inch target at 15 yards.

I have too much invested in Ruger. one thing to keep in mind you wand at least 5 mags preferably 10.

whatever you decided get the threaded model.

I bought the Buckmark, and three extra mags. I have been so busy with work that I still have not shot it. But it feels great in my hand. Looking forward to popping off a few rounds.

Shot my Ruger 45/22 and my vintage Browning Challenger today.

    So very different.
    Neither "better".

    Re-confirms my earlier recommendation:
    Buy what fits your hand.

    Hmmmm, or is it 22/45?
Either way, Gemtech ammo through my AAC can it's a joy.
I can hit more accurately with the old Browning though.

Interesting combo...I have a 22/45 and a Browning Nomad(Essentially a Challenger with NO slide/bolt lock feature). The front sight on the Nomad is about the size of a 2 by 4; but I'm just as accurate with that as I am with the 22/45 and a red dot ! ;) That Nomad is solid! 1971 production year, BTW

Look up the Heggis(sp) spring flip. Super easy mod, lightens the trigger just a bit. Mag disconnect is also really easy to get rid of if you choose to do so and seems to make the trigger just a bit smoother.
